ORION

HOOFDDORP

For Nexus Real Estate, Graziosi Progetti transformed a colourless office in Hoofddorp into a high-end multi-tenant building now called the Orion Campus

The 1990’s office building on Siriusdreef had little appearance when Pieter Romme, co-founder of Nexus bought it in 2019: “It was just before the Covid crisis, and that was actually a good thing because we have been renovating for a long time. Initially, it would be a single-tenant building. But during the transformation, we were able to make adjustments in time to respond to the changing requirements for offices. We have turned it into a multi-tenant building, with common areas for reception, meetings and sports.” Graziosi Progetti was responsible for the interior design of all common areas, including corridor areas, elevators and landings. “This was a special project for us,” says Nina Graziosi: “Since the design team was working from home, this was our very first remote designed interior.”

The former Post NL office consisted of a main building, bounded by two outbuildings. Romme: “I wanted to add quality to this building and make it something special, so that it would attract people within a second.” First of all, the facade had to be tackled. Graziosi: ”The building is at the end of the street, you drive into it, as it were. Thanks to the two outbuildings, it has a very classic, symmetrical facade – in fact a kind of stripped-down Art Deco style. We chose to make a grand gesture by using the name ‘Orion Campus Building’ as an openwork facade element that communicates with the rhythm of the building parts.” Orion Campus has three entrances. In addition to the main entrance in the Central Building, the left and right parts of the building (building East and West) also have their own entrance. Graziosi: ”To create more connection between the buildings, we designed a kind of pergola structure, with a large canopy at the main entrance and a layout with plants and seating elements.”
