LITTLE DUBAI

APARTMENT, AMSTERDAM

Our client bought a sober 1920’s Amsterdam apartment in a classy Amsterdam neighborhood and asked us to redesign it. Our journey stared locally and then went internationally, turning traditional into modern and finishing off with some good old gold leaf.

First, we had to get rid of the flat’s poky past. So we broke through the walls and opened up spaces uncovering a new visual axis. The whole flat was elevated with a sense of spaciousness when we connected the rooms and allowed the light in. We then shifted from construction to luxury. Look above you! Have you ever seen such an ornate ceiling? We installed gilded taps and made the walls just as pretty with lavishly decorated panels of varnished wood. Amsterdam sobriety made room for Middle Eastern lusciousness.
