Seventies villa
Our clients wanted us to cater for the needs of a modern family by transforming a 1970s city villa without forsaking its unique identity.
"Redesigning a 1970s villa for a 21st century family."
Nina Graziosi, Interiorarchitect, Graziosi Progetti
Two physicians and their children were tired of living in the suburbs but did not want to give up space. So they bought this fabulous ‘70s bungalow within biking distance of the city center. One problem though, the interior also was quite – eh – Neil Diamondish, combining small poky spaces with lots of darkness. We started by changing the layout, opening up the kitchen and breaking through walls and ceilings. Then, the real fun started. We decided to preserve some original features, a brickwork wall, a slate floor, the wenge wooden stairs and… the original 70s brick arch which marks the entrance to the kitchen. Now imagine that with a sleek 21st century ARCLINEA kitchen and a huge, Hermès orange cross-shaped fireplace, referring to the profession of the owners. You would love the contrast.
